Wylde Green United Reformed Church

Making the love of Jesus a reality in the community 7 days a week.

Our 6pm Sundays

Who are these sessions aimed at?

Our 6pm Sundays are designed for people who are looking to explore, discuss and experience. This may be people who are traditional Christians who are looking for “something” more than a traditional hymn/prayer format or people seeking to explore faith but aren’t really sure they see themselves as Christian in the traditional sense. We simply ask you to come with an open mind and heart and see if it would work for you!

What happens at the different sessions?

Soul Space 6th July, 14th Sept, 5th October, 2nd November

We meet in the main worship area of the church. When you arrive, you will be given a sheet that has a reading from the Bible and some questions for you to ponder (or feel free just to let your mind wander). There will be 45 minutes where soft music plays, and you can light candles. We then gather at the front of the church and do a short evening prayer together to finish the session.

Reel Conversations

We meet in Room 1 (off the carpark) and watch a thought-provoking film. At the beginning of the session, you have a summary and some questions to consider while you watch the film to help guide our conversations afterwards. Our films and their trailers for the next few months are:

10th August             The Truman Show

The Truman Show Trailer

21st September   A Man Called Otto

A MAN CALLED OTTO - Official Trailer (HD)

Meditation 19th October, 16th November

We will use room 1 again and we will use Lectio Divina (an ancient method of Christian Meditation) each 45-minute session. You can find more about Lectio Divina at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lectio_Divina

Spiritual Explorers’ Group

Staying in room 1, each session will explore something about spirituality or personal growth. The format will be a 30-minute talk given by Rev Chris followed by a Q&A and discussion. The sessions from September are:

28th September:   The Church and the Climate Crisis

26th October:         Where does the Church go from here?

23rd November      The pagan origins of Christian Festivals
